The burden of disease is measured in Disability-Adjusted Life Years (DALYs). DALYs measure the total burden ofdisease – both from years of life lost due to premature death and years lived with a disability. One DALY equals onelost year of healthy life. Here it is age-standardized and expressed per 100,000 individuals.
