Index of US maternal mortality and female labor force participation (FLFP), United States, 1900 to 2005

The index of maternal mortality ratio (estimated maternal deaths per 100,000 live births) and female labor force participation (% of the female population that iseconomically active) is calculated as maternal mortality and FLFP in each year divided by the starting value in 1900 (therefore 1900 = 100). In 1900, maternalmortality was 850 deaths per 100,000 live births and FLFP was 20.4%.
